Freeze Dried: What you may not know

There are still alot of folks who don't know much about Freeze Dried Products and the Process of Freeze Drying.

Let me just throw a little information out here for you. Freeze Drying is a process in which a completely frozen product is placed under a vacuum in order to remove water or other solvents from the product, allowing the ice to change directly from a solid to a vapor without passsing through a liquid phase. Essentially removing the water and moisture content from the product.

Advantages of Freeze Drying:   With proper packaging and storage, a Freeze Dried Product can extend the shelf-life to up to 25 years.

Freeze Dried Foods often retaain over 90% of the original fresh food's nutrition, much more than other drying techniques (air-drying, heat-drying) which usually damage microntrients.

Freeze Dried Foods do not need to be frozen or refrigerated during storage.

I'll be back with more Freeze Dried knowledge later.

Hope this helps a little.
